Your teeth should stay white for up to two to three years after whitening treatment, if you look after them well, says the British Dental Foundation.
And after you've gone to the expense of having the treatment, it makes sense to look after your teeth as best you can to maintain the results. Our tips for keeping teeth pearly white are as follows:
It is better to avoid drinking or eating foods on a regular basis that cause staining, such as tea, red wine and curry, or anything else that is highly-coloured and liable to stain.
If you smoke, try to give up or at least cut down. Nicotine and tar deeply stain the teeth and the effects are far less likely to last.
Use the whitening after-care kit as directed by the technician after having your teeth treated, as this can really help maintain the results.
Try changing your normal toothpaste for a whitening one. While whitening toothpastes have no effect on the natural colour of your teeth, they can help maintain the effects of power whitening once your teeth have been treated.
